Description	Romanus III (born in 968 AD) was a Byzantine nobleman who married the princess Zoe at the request of her father Constantine VIII who, at the time, was on his deathbed. Although he was enthusiastic, Romanus III was not an effective ruler. He depleted the treasury by decreasing the taxes while continuing to spend a great amount on building projects. He also met with very little military success against the Muslims. His wife allegedly poisoned, then drowned him in his bath water, causing his premature death in 1034.
