. The
obverse
shows
the
heraldic
coat-of-arms
of
Ferdinand
and
Isabella
, the
monarchs
of
Spain
, with their
legends
,
translated
from the
Latin
,
FERDINAND
AND
ISABELLA
, By The
Grace
of
God
(
abbreviated
as
DG)
King
and
Queen
(abbreviated
as
R
for
Rex
and
Regina)
. In the
Mexican
cobs
of the
Mexican
colonies
, the
monarchs
of
Spain
coat
of
arms
can
be
seen
,
just
like
the
obverse
of this
coin
. The
Carus
Collection
contains
a
Mexican
Eight
Reales
(cob)
from the
mid-1600s
.
